Brian Shiro

About

Brian Shiro currently serves as Deputy Director at the USGS Geologic Hazards Science Center in Golden, CO. In that role, he manages science center operations, staff, and programs in Earthquake, Geomagnetism, and Landslide hazard monitoring. This includes utilizing expertise in geology, geophysics, and network operations to support the goals and objectives of the USGS Natural Hazards Mission Area. Previously, Shiro served as the Seismic Network Manager at the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, where he was responsible for seismic and infrasound instrumentation, data processing, and data distribution from about 100 stations in the State of Hawaii. Prior to that, he worked at the NOAA Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, where he served as Geophysicist monitoring and warning for tsunamigenic earthquakes for over 10 years.
